Secondary: Throughout the School Year
To keep students safe, some other aspects of school life will be changed for the 2020-21 school year. Learn more about impacts on extracurricular activities, field trips, school assemblies, School Councils and school volunteers.
Your teen’s Educator will let you know how they will communicate with you throughout the school year. Parent/guardian meetings should be done virtually or by phone wherever possible. In the event of a face-to-face meeting, it should be pre-arranged and physical distancing and mask protocols must be followed.
The Peel board will also provide board-wide updates to families through emails, phone calls and via the board’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. To stay up-to-date, ensure your school has your correct contact information and subscribe for updates.
Extracurriculars and field trips
Schools can offer clubs and organized sports if physical distancing is possible and equipment and spaces are cleaned and disinfected between each use. Please contact your school directly to learn which extracurricular activities will run this school year.
Field trips will not take place until further notice.
To minimize health and safety risks, individuals entering schools will be limited to staff, students and essential individuals. Volunteers will not be permitted to support in-school activities with students until further notice.
School Council meetings and elections will be held virtually until further notice. Parents/caregivers interested in participating on their school’s School Council should reach out to their Principal or Vice-Principal for a self-nomination form.
There will be no in-person assemblies or large gatherings of students at this time. If needed, these will take place virtually.
