Online Learning
Learning online is an option that can suit the varied schedules, interests and strengths of students.
The Peel board offers two online learning options:
Peel eLearning - courses offered through the Ontario eLearning Consortium (OeLC) during the regular school year for secondary students
Peel eLearning - Summer - offered during the summer months through Continuing Education
Peel eLearning
An alternative way to earn credits
The Peel board is a member of the Ontario eLearning Consortium (OeLC). This partnership provides equitable access to diverse learners through a variety of courses taught by Ontario Certified Teachers in Peel and across the province.
Peel eLearning educators are committed to fostering an inclusive virtual learning environment that provides opportunities for students to explore their interests while developing critical competency skills. Peel eLearning students are empowered to embrace their lived experiences, share their voices, and consider diverse perspectives. Other benefits include:
improved digital literacy
enhanced time management skills
independent learning opportunities
access to learning through an asynchronous environment
Students enrolled in eLearning are expected to complete regular individual and group assignments, and contribute frequently to online discussions. Successful learning online requires students to be self-motivated, well-organized and responsible. A variety of assessment and evaluation tools are used to gather evidence of learning and provide feedback.
Students are encouraged to discuss their interest in eLearning courses with their guidance counsellor.
To participate in Peel eLearning, students must:
be registered in a Peel board secondary school
be currently enrolled in at least two regular day courses at your school. Peel eLearning cannot be used as a fifth course.
register through their guidance counsellor
