New lockdown measures announced: Schools move to online learning beginning Jan. 4

Dear Peel District School Board families and students,

On Monday, Dec. 21, the Government of Ontario announced new public health orders for the province to prevent further spread of COVID-19, including:
  • All elementary (K-8) students will learn remotely at home during Jan. 4 to 8, 2021. School buildings will be closed to students during this time, except for some students who are learning in-person in contained special education classes.

More information will be forthcoming for elementary students currently learning in-person in contained special education classes (e.g., DD, ASD).

Elementary students who learn in-person will return to their schools on Jan. 11.

  • All secondary (9-12) students will learn remotely at home during Jan. 4 to 22, 2021 and follow their regular timetable. School buildings will be closed to students during this time, except for some students who are learning in-person in contained special education classes.

More information will be forthcoming for secondary students currently learning in-person in contained special education classes (e.g., DD, ASD).

After Jan. 22, grades 9 to 12 students will return to their regular school routines in the Community Learning Model.

  • Students currently in the Online Learning Model will continue with their regular school routines.

  • All before and after-school programs are closed from Jan. 4 to 8, 2021. Please check with your childcare provider to learn more.
At this time, elementary schools are expected to re-open on Jan. 11, and secondary schools on Jan. 25. If there are any changes over the Winter Break, we will keep families and staff informed. Updates will be posted on our board website and Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Take care, and enjoy a safe, healthy Winter Break.
