Help create the Peel board's new anti-racism policy

We are looking for input from our community partners, staff and stakeholders in the creation of an Anti-Racism Policy.

At the Peel District School Board, we are committed to creating learning and working environments that are safe, caring and inclusive, where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. As part of this critical commitment, the Board of Trustees approved a motion in 2019 to create an Anti-Racism Policy. This policy will guide our practices as a school system to eradicate anti-Black racism and all forms of racial discrimination, and address racial disparities in student outcomes, school experiences, and employment practices.

Building Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive Communities, Together

We want to ensure that this policy truly serves the needs of students, families and staff—which is why we're looking for your input.

All Peel board families and community members are invited to share their feedback through our Anti-Racism Policy ThoughtExchange by answering two questions. Click on the following links to provide your input:

Staff members will receive separate links to participate. Both forms will close at 4 p.m. on Dec. 18.

Working with special advisor, Dr. Akwatu Khenti, this consultation is an important step in our work towards the Ministry's Directives for the Peel board, and to attain equitable outcomes for all communities, in particular those who have been historically underserved and marginalized based on their identities.

Additional opportunities to provide input on the board's Anti-Racism Policy will be available in January 2021.

What is Thoughtexchange?

Thoughtexchange is an online engagement tool that gathers input from communities through meaningful and productive online conversations. It will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete, and your input will be anonymous.

After you've submitted your responses, you can return to share additional thoughts, as well as read and rate what others think using a star system. Your thoughts and stars can be seen by anyone in the exchange, but they are anonymous. While this step is optional, the rating system helps us understand which thoughts are most important in the Peel community.
