Dear Peel District School Board families,
Bullying in any form is unacceptable. Hate incidents informed by anti-Black racism and misrepresented as bullying will not be condoned. The Peel District School Board will recognize Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week during the week of December 7 to 11, 2020.
This year, we ask students, staff and families to #ChooseACTION to be Anti-Racist in their classes, schools, worksites and communities.
Disrupting and dismantling all forms of racism is work that cannot wait. In order to be anti-racist, we must challenge ideas of color-blindness or race neutrality.
A number of resources have been made available to support how anti-Black racism and other forms of systemic discrimination, outlined in the Ministry Review, can be addressed and eliminated. We understand that these resources are not the only way, and are not necessarily the one "right" way, to develop an anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, but they do reinforce the notion that each of us can be an agent of change.
Our goal is to proactively eliminate racial discrimination every day. This is the transformational change that is required for all students to feel a sense of belonging and well-being in our schools.
