Applications for Explore High Skills program open Nov. 9 for grade 8 students

Jump start your future with Explore High Skills

Explore High Skills  is a Peel District School Board pathway program for grade 9 and 10 students that allows students to focus their learning on an area of interest. Students build self-confidence, learn essential skills, and develop a sense of belonging in school and in the community. There are no application fees for Explore High Skills and there are no fees to participate in the program. Explore High Skills programs begin in grade 9 and are offered at the schools listed below.


Current grade 8 students can apply for the Explore High Skills program for the 2021-22 school year between Nov. 9 at 8:30 a.m. and Nov. 23, 2020 at 3 p.m.

Grade 8 students and families can submit applications for up to three different Explore High Skills programs, including those offered at locations other than their neighbourhood school.
If the program is offered at multiple schools, applicants will only see the schools they are eligible for based on their home address for their program of choice.

What you'll need to apply:
For privacy and security reasons, grade 8 students and parents/guardians will need the following information for their application:

  • Student number
  • ParentConnect token – please note that the unique ParentConnect token associated with each grade 8 student will be emailed to families who have their email address on file at the school. Families can also contact the school to get their grade 8 child's ParentConnect token.

ParentConnect is the board's online parent portal which provides parents/guardians with a single access point to stay informed, access services online and receive important information about your children. Each student has a unique ParentConnect token.

Explore High Skills is offered in the following secondary schools with Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs and provides students with engaging learning experiences as they transition to high school. These sector-related programs are available to students in all skill levels and in all pathways.
