Children born in 2016 can start school in September 2020
Peel District School Board elementary schools are currently accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2020-21 school year, and will hold Kindergarten Registration Week from Jan. 13 to 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and also in the evening on Jan. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Parents of children born in 2016 are invited to attend their local Peel school to register their child for the kindergarten program.
"Our staff looks forward to welcoming new kindergarten students and families into schools for the first time and share with them the great adventures coming their way," says Peter Joshua, director of education. "We're ready to help your child succeed while they play, wonder and learn in kindergarten."
To launch Kindergarten Registration Week, families are invited to join a live information session on the Peel board's Facebook page on Monday, Jan. 13 at noon. The Facebook live segment will include a breakdown of the kindergarten program and an opportunity to answer questions live about kindergarten and the registration process. Questions can be submitted in advance through direct message on the board's Facebook page or by emailing [email protected].
If families are unable to attend Kindergarten Registration Week, they can register their child for kindergarten any time during school hours by completing the online registration forms in advance and visiting the school that their child will attend during school hours. It is recommended that families call ahead of time to reduce wait times. To find out what school their child will attend, families can use the Find Your School tool at www.peelschools.org/schools/findyourschool
