Peel Student Presidents' Council provides update report
 
Executive members of the Peel Students Presidents' Council (PSPC) provided an update to trustees about the 2011-12 school year.

PSPC is a student-run organization that provides a way for student councils across the Peel board to network, share ideas, provide feedback to the board and access leadership opportunities.

Trustees recognize David Suzuki Secondary School students for participation in Global Dignity Day

Trustees congratulated students from David Suzuki Secondary School on their participation in the national celebration of Global Dignity Day.

Our students attended a live nation-wide video conference celebrating Global Dignity Day with schools from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Students left the opening video conference on a mission to educate other students about dignity.

Sanja Pajovic delegated the board regarding bussing at Queenston Drive Public School.

Membership of IPRCS approved
 
The board approved the membership for Identification, Placement and Review Committees for the 2011-12 school year. For a complete list of members, contact the special education department, 905-890-1010 (or 1-800-668-1146) ext. 2345.
 
Board approves tender for school addition and renovation

The tender for the construction of an addition and renovation to Clifton Public School was awarded to Tasis Contractors Inc., at a cost of $1.9 million.

Board approves recommendations of the Physical Planning & Building Committee

Trustees approved the 2013 capital plan, subject to the availability of funding from the Ministry of  Education, for the following four new schools – Brameast #4 P.S., Credit Valley Sub Area 5 #1 P.S., Springdale 703 P.S. and Credit Valley (Brampton) #2 S.S.

Trustees approved the 2014-22 capital plan for new schools subject to the availability of funding from the Ministry of Education.

Trustees agreed there will be no new additions for full-day Kindergarten in the 2011-12 annual planning document, until capital funding for year four implementation of full-day kindergarten is approved by the Ministry of Education.

Trustees also approved that the following schools met the criteria of the board's "Policies and Regulations – Policy #45 - Consolidation of School Accommodation" and "Operating Procedures – Consolidation of School Accommodation – Planning and Accommodation Support Services 3" – Clarkson P.S., Westacres P.S. and T.L. Kennedy S.S.

The board approved the following elementary principal appointments, effective November 23, 2011:
