MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Board approves Grade 1 French Immersion class cap at SouthFields Village Public School

Trustees approved a cap of two Grade 1 French Immersion (FI) classes at SouthFields Village Public School, effective September 2016. This will help alleviate space limitations, assist in managing the total number of FI classes and help maintain the balance of FI and regular program classes at the school.

Board approves names for new schools

Trustees approved the names of the following new elementary schools:

• The new elementary school, formerly known as Mount Pleasant #8, to be located at 95 Remembrance Road in Brampton, will be named Dolson Public School
• The new elementary school, formerly known as Credit Valley 3 #1, to be located at 50 Parity Road in Brampton, will be named McClure Public School
• The new elementary school, formerly known as Bramwest 3 #1, to be located at the intersection of Howard Stewart Road and Dancing Waters Road in Brampton, will be named Whaley’s Corners Public School
• The new elementary school, formerly known as Mount Pleasant #7, to be located at 30 Tribune Drive in Brampton, will be named Tribune Drive Public School

Board ratifies tentative local agreement with CUPE 2544

Trustees ratified the tentative local agreement with CUPE 2544. CUPE 2544 ratified the agreement on December 12, 2015.

Board ratifies tentative local agreement with CUPE 1628

Trustees ratified the tentative local agreement with CUPE 1628. CUPE 1628 ratified the agreement on January 9, 2016.

Board ratifies tentative local agreement with Educational Resource Facilitators of Peel

Trustees ratified the tentative local agreement with the Educational Resource Facilitators of Peel. The Educational Resource Facilitators of Peel are scheduled to conduct their ratification vote on January 13, 2016.

The following secondary vice-principal appointment will be effective February 8, 2016:

Amy Lin from teacher at Craig Kielburger Secondary School, Halton District School Board to vice-principal at Applewood Heights Secondary School.
