French Immersion

In the immersion program, students achieve a high level of proficiency in French while they continue to develop English language skills. The French immersion program is optional and starts in grade 1, where 90 per cent of instructional time is in French. In grades 2 to 8, 50 per cent of instructional time is in French. Students are able to continue the program through high school, where they will take four credits in French immersion and six credits in other subjects taught in French over all four years. After completing the required credits, students will receive a certificate of bilingual studies.
