Fletcher's Creek Sr. Public School is committed to a school success plan that creates a pathway for future growth in all of our students and staff. We recognize that students bring their own identity and experiences to the classroom and value the importance of individual differences. Working in collaboration with staff, students and families we have created a pathway for a desired future that is driven by our mission, vision, values and collective commitments.
Our mission is, "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." - Mahatma Gandhi
Fletcher's Creek is committed to higher learning and success for all students, regardless of their differences or abilities.
"Life is essentially a question of values." - Meir Kahane
We are committed to teaching students to demonstrate proactive responses as opposed to reactive responses. Fletcher's Creek staff maintain the highest degree of professionalism and modelling behaviours for students to be respected and successful members of society. Our values also include respecting diversity and being inclusive, as we honour individual differences through acceptance and consideration. We believe in maintaining a safe academic and emotional environment for students and staff and building a framework for success through effective collaboration.
Our vision is: "If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him." - John F. Kennedy
Fletcher's Creek believes in building partnerships between students, staff and the community. Our vision includes not just teaching students what to think, but how to think in a world dominated by the digital and technological landscapes. Learning doesn't end at the sound of the afternoon bell. Instead, we believe in teaching students to become lifelong learners through the continuous building of skills and knowledge.
While Fletcher's Creek is focused on fostering an environment for student success, we are also focused on helping students become effective members of society. Through the teachings developed by Stephen Covey in the "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens,’ proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty and human dignity are widely taught and promoted throughout the school.
We are fortunate to have various extracurricular activities around the school, and students have fair and equal opportunities to participate in any club, sports team or event held at Fletcher's Creek. Our physical health & education staff provide students with a rewarding and athletic experience through the various sports teams and intramural sports. We are also one of a handful of schools that has a cricket team! If you are artistic by nature, the mural club is well known for producing high quality artwork that would make Pablo Picasso very proud! With a strong focus on digital media, the media club is popular for teaching students the art of digital production and design.
We recognize that student success extends outside of school - at home. Fletcher's Creek recognizes the importance of working with parents in helping their children succeed at school. We are committed to helping parents through various "Information Nights" and regular communication between school and home.
