Shelter Bay Public School is a kindergarten to grade 6 school with approximately 450 students. Shelter Bay is about empowering students to be caring individuals, while challenging them to attain their personal best. We are about helping every student realize his or her full potential and become a responsible member of society, a lifelong learner and critical thinker, who respects themselves, others, and the environment. The school is situated in the Meadowvale area in Mississauga. Before and after school care is provided by PLASP.

Parent involvement is hugely valued and a large part of what makes our school so successful. The partnership between parents and our school is cultivated through meaningful work, directed at providing the best learning opportunities for our students.

All students are empowered to take ownership of their own learning. They know what they are doing, why they are doing it and how they will benefit. They recognize that goal setting and the use of descriptive feedback is key to their success. All junior students are actively engaged in leadership roles around the school and they take ownership of making the school community the best! From our morning announcers, to our athletic council and KFC Peacekeepers, there are meaningful ways students can support the success of the whole school - it’s about being part of something bigger than just oneself. Intramurals are also a significant part of our school experience. From basketball and volleyball to our participation in the Mississauga Marathon, our school has sent the highest contingent of any school in Peel.

Shelter Bay has embraced five key S.T.A.R.T. values that guide the behaviour of all stakeholders including students, teachers and parents. The values critical to student success include: safety, trust, a positive attitude, respect and teamwork. At Shelter Bay, we are committed to participate in ongoing professional development and strive to respond to individual needs and learning styles by differentiating instruction and making learning authentic. We promote active learning for all students with many opportunities to build on, and deepen individual schema. Collaboration with colleagues, students and parents is key!
