Mount Pleasant Village Public School is a new school, nestled behind the GO station. The community is designed to be a "walking community" with access to public transit and local shops built close by. The community also features an outdoor skating rink in the winter months, which turns into a fountain and reflecting pond in the summer months. Mount Pleasant Village is a joint venture between the Peel board, the City of Brampton and the Brampton Public Library. As such, the school library is a shared facility that is open to the public in the evenings.
Our students are all involved in the TRIBES program, which builds community and is dedicated to creating an inclusive school environment for all students. Students have daily "community circles" where they discuss problems, concerns or exciting events that are happening.
Students are involved in volleyball, basketball and other extracurricular sporting events. We have a strong music program and look forward to producing many musicals and productions in future. We offer students our own version of "Glee,’ which has been an overwhelming success.
We have adopted the Dragon as our school mascot and coincidentally, our inaugural year 2012 is the "Year of the Dragon.”
The school is built on the philosophy that “It takes a village to raise a child.” We invite the community to volunteer their time and energy to help our students achieve. We will be holding community events to get people involved and connected to their new home and school.
