Harold F. Loughin Public School is located at 39 Herkley Drive in Brampton, just north of Queen St. and east off of Rutherford Road. The school opened in 1972. We have historically been a small, community school, averaging around 330 students from kindergarten to grade 5.
At Harold F. Loughin, our mission is to always live up to our true potential and be respectful and responsible members of the school and the community in which we live. Staff are dedicated to providing rich and varied experiences for all students. Students at Harold F. Loughin enjoy a full range of programs and extracurricular activities, including choir, intramural sports and games, cultural dance, games club, reading club, Eco club, Child to Child program, Anti-Bullying committee and PALS leadership group.
One of our main school success goals is to develop and enhance our reading skills. With the support of the school community, we have implemented a school-wide reading program called “Readers Are Leaders.” We truly believe that reading is the foundation for all success.
Another major focus is on student leadership and the development of social skills. Our students explore social justice issues through problem solving in mathematics. We want our students to become more aware of what is happening in the world around them, and also want them to become active global citizens, capable of making a positive difference not only in their own lives, but also in the lives of others in their community and around the world.
