We welcome students from the Centennial Sr. Public School community by inspiring and empowering them to embrace the values of P.R.I.D.E (participation, responsibility, integrity, determination and excellence) in their school experience. Students, staff and families work together to maintain a positive climate for learning both inside and outside of the classroom. Students are afforded the opportunity to develop and challenge their academic, social and self-motivation skills in an environment that fosters leadership and achievement in a variety of areas.
Students are recognized for their efforts to participate positively in school life through the "Winnit Program" where students are presented with gold seals for their academic achievements and regular participation in sports or extracurricular activities. Some of these activities include: basketball, volleyball, soccer, cricket, intramural floor hockey and beach volleyball, flag football, cross county, track and field, Red Maple and Silver Birch Reading programs, Eco-Club, Free the Children, art club and stitch-it clubs, to name just a few. Thirty winnits at the end of grade 8 will earn students a Graduation medallion. Students can also earn P.R.I.D.E. slips from their teachers for a chance at daily rewards to recognize their contributions to school life and their efforts to meet and exceed school expectations.
Parents are invited to provide feedback and to collaborate with school staff to foster a strong partnership to support student success. Regular communication with teachers is encouraged through our school agenda program, and parents are encouraged to attend monthly school council meetings.
Students participate in innovative learning opportunities in the classroom setting and through our Teacher Advisory Program (T.A.P.) which support character development and our Daily Physical Activity (DPA) Program, implemented to support the benefits of regular exercise.
Centennial Sr. is a face-paced, dynamic and engaging learning environment!
