Lougheed Middle School is an exciting place to learn, where students have the opportunity to grow and develop into successful lifelong learners and as individuals that are caring, responsible and respectful citizens of society. We are comprised of a community of learners where staff, students and parents/guardians work together to create an engaging, inclusive and safe environment, empowering students to achieve excellence in academics, while maximizing their individual talents and abilities.
To prepare our students for the 21st century, we are embracing the use of technology as a strategic teaching tool to foster learning in all areas of the curriculum and in particular, literacy and numeracy. Student leadership is at the heart of Lougheed, with student voices heard and valued.
We offer a number of different extracurricular activities that our students can engage in and show off their talents, including: school sport teams, intramurals, musicals, Eco-club, video productions, African drumming club and much more. Students have taken a special interest in the “Me to We” organization and are learning to give back to our neighbouring and global community by lending a helping hand, through volunteering their time and efforts in a variety of ways. Each year, grade 8 students participate in electives and have a wide variety of activities to choose from. Students have opportunities to explore the arts, technology, physical activity and various personal interest and life skills.
At Lougheed, we pride ourselves in encouraging our students to participate in exciting learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom, to help them become strong leaders in academics, as community members and as global citizens who make a difference in the world around them.
Core values include, “We believe that everyone is capable of learning; We believe in creating an environment that is respectful, responsible and promotes positive relationships; We believe in the worth and dignity of every individual; and We believe in promoting a fair and consistent educational environment.”
