Great Lakes Public School opened in 2000, receiving its name from the street name, Great Lakes Drive. The school is located in Brampton and the major intersection is Bovaird and Hwy 410. Great Lakes has expanded to meet the demands of a growing community and now serves over 850 junior kindergarten to grade 8 students, representing many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
We believe that all students can be successful. Our vision is that all our children achieve excellence. The culture of Great Lakes has been created based on common values and beliefs held by all those who work here. At Great Lakes we are committed to empowering our students to be highly successful by offering them a high quality 21st century education as well as ample opportunities for student leadership. Our focus is on student improvement in literacy and numeracy made possible by using technology as an effective tool to engage our students. We also offer Pathways Programs in woodworking and family studies. In addition to this, we provide opportunities for students to showcase talents and abilities through arts and sports.
A strong partnership between school and home is essential for student success. We believe that skills learned at home should complement the learning that takes place in the school setting.
