Since the school’s opening in 2004, Sunny View Middle School’s focus has been on academics, athletics, arts and the development of productive contributing citizens. At Sunny View we have a wide range of clubs and teams that reflect a student body that is culturally, ethnically and religiously diverse. Our students are given many leadership opportunities at school through our many clubs and organizations such as student parliament, Me To We, drama production, band and music programs, eco club, library leaders, student announcements and the newspaper club. We also have an athletics program of interschool teams and intramurals that allow all students to participate and enjoy getting physically fit. Some of the athletic programs include: football, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, cricket, hockey, track and field, European handball and cross-country.
At our school we also build a positive climate for learning and working through our character assemblies where we celebrate success through our monthly S.H.I.N.E awards (Success Harmony Integrity Nurturing Excellence).
Sunny View has a dedicated and qualified staff that is devoted to making sure every student is academically successful. Teachers strive to create instructional programs that are engaging and hands-on and that differentiate instruction to meet a range of student strengths, needs and learning styles. Students are given every opportunity to succeed by participating in the many remedial programs such as the homework clubs, OFIP and the Counting On You program that has the largest enrolment of any middle school in the Peel board.
