Birchbank Public School was built in 1972, is located in Brampton and is a kindergarten to grade 5 school. In September 2012 we will have full-day kindergarten as well as a before and after school program. Our student population is comprised of 360 students. Our teaching and student populations are diverse and representative of the world. We honour and cherish the varied experiences that every child and staff member bring with them.
On a daily basis, we as staff are committed to creating an environment that is safe, welcoming, caring and dedicated to bringing the joy of lifelong learning to each child. We consistently receive support from our parents and utilize all community resources to enhance the learning of each student.
Birchbank staff members are committed to engaging and equipping our students with effective literacy, problem solving, critical thinking and technology skills. This is done through the effective use and allocation of resources such as budget, staff (early literacy teacher, resource teacher, social worker, speech and language pathologist) and workshops provided by the Peel board. Birchbank teachers are committed to being reflective practitioners and are consistently shifting their teaching paradigm to meet the varied academic, social and physical needs of our students. Our student population is aware of their strengths and areas for development and together, with their teacher and parents, collaboratively set achievable goals. Through our Bucket Filling initiative, we are building empathy among our students.
Students at Birchbank are explicitly taught to be respectful, honest, responsible, inclusive and caring. We as a community of learners strive to make students, staff and parents happy to come to and call Birchbank their school.
