Springfield Public School is a school with a strong history and a bright future. The mission at Springfield is to help students live up to their dreams, reach their full potential and become critical thinkers who are prepared for tomorrow. At Springfield not only do we celebrate the diverse culture of our community, but we also promote Canada’s bilingualism by being a French immersion site for grades 1 to 6. In addition to French (for our immersion students) the languages spoken are numerous and contribute to the multicultural fabric of the school.
“We are a community of learners who come together for a common purpose...our children...our future." To realize our mission and vision, we value: caring, respect, cooperation, responsibility, honesty and inclusion. Through our Recognition Assemblies, Shooting Stars and Character Tree, we foster a climate of care and acceptance where students are encouraged to “shoot for the stars” through their attitudes and actions.
Springfield boasts a strong extracurricular program consisting of academics, the arts, and athletics. Activities include: flag football, cross country, stones, basketball, borden ball, track and field, skating, swimming, karate kids, jungle sports, You’ve Got Dance and dragon boating. We also provide students with various club choices, including: games club, green kids, big book club, dance club, chess club and sketching club.
Springfield boasts a strong arts program with both a primary and junior choir, along with a spectacular, original school wide musical, put on each spring. At Springfield, we believe in providing students with many opportunities, so they may broaden their knowledge, skills, experiences and attitudes as they prepare for tomorrow.
