Online Course Writing - Full Course

school-online periodically requires writers for online courses. Potential authors would include co-ordinators, department heads or secondary school teachers in the Peel District School Board, who have taught the course. It must be understood at the outset that all course writing work must be carried out outside of regular assigned duties and that all material produced will become the property of the Peel District School Board.

In order to be considered as an author for an online course, each candidate must complete the application process below. We welcome applications from individuals and those who wish to jointly author the course with another colleague.

Application Process

The potential author should review the timelines above for the work as outlined in detail in Schedule A. These are suggested timelines and may be flexible to accommodate an author's schedule. Potential authors will be writing lessons in a template to make sure all components of a lesson are included. The complete lesson writing template is explained here. You will be given a blank template with only the lesson headings included (download a copy here). It will be an html document which you can open in MS Word or an html editor and add the lesson details.

A complete application consists of:

  1. a completed lesson in the lesson template (download a copy here) and
  2. an outline of the course (i.e. a unit breakdown and what lessons will be included in each unit. The course outline should also indicate where and what significant assessments will take place.
  3. a current resume that includes what courses you have taught, training/PD courses attended, writing team participation, or examples of curriculum writing you in which you have participated. This will give the Principal an idea of your background and experience.

Please submit your resume, lesson and course outline to as attached files by January 16, 2006. If you have any specific questions, please email or phone (905)270-6000x410
