Peel teacher receives Ontario Music Educators' Association lifetime member award
On Nov. 2, the Ontario Music Educators' Association will honour Thomas Street Middle School teacher Carole Anderson with a Lifetime Member Award for her achievements and contributions to music education.
For over 30 years, Anderson has taught music to students from all grade levels. Her choirs and bands at Thomas Street Middle School have been recognized at local, regional and national festivals.
Anderson has also made significant contributions to music outside the classroom. In 1992, Anderson founded the Peel Intermediate Music Teachers’ Association (PIMTA). She is also the founding director of the handbell choirs at Eden United Church in Mississauga, as well as the associate conductor of the Toronto Children’s Chorus, where she conducts two training choirs.
