Submissions now being accepted for the James Bartleman Aboriginal Youth Creative Writing Award

The Ontario government is now accepting submissions for the James Bartleman Aboriginal Youth Creative Writing Award. Each year up to six Aboriginal students are given this award and a prize of $2,500 to recognize their excellent writing abilities.

Students can apply in two age groups: up to 12-years-old and 13 to 18-years-old in the following categories:

  • Fly-in community
  • On-reserve
  • Off-reserve

Submissions must be original work created by the student submitting them. Creative writing pieces that are accepted include short stories, poems, essays, plays, songs or even comic strips. Submissions must be received by May 31.
