Gordon Graydon Memorial students place first and third at Jr. Economic Club Financial Literacy Challenge
Gordon Graydon Memorial students Harshetha Sundar and Vishal Monteiro placed first and Annie Tran placed third at the Jr. Economic Club Financial Literacy Challenge.
The first place winners won $3,000, named The Jr. Economic Club of Canada's students of the year and will be featured on their website.
Mohammad Khaled also won first place in the Porter Airline Dream Destination Pitch. Khaled's video submission has won him a trip for two to Halifax. Khaled was selected from a group of 150 students.
On Sept. 16, the students and their parents are invited to accept their awards and open the stock exchange with the Jr. Economic Club of Canada team and the Ontario Finance Minister Charles Souza.
The students were to create a video about the importance of financial literacy, basing their content on any of the lessons in the educational series "Choices and Decisions." Videos were to target a younger demographic of kids ages 12 to 14 years old. Along with a video submission, all participants were to also submit a one page write up about the inspiration behind their video.
