Lincoln M. Alexander students participate in a mural exchange program with Japanese high school
Visual art students from Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School are participating in a mural exchange program with a Japanese high school this school Year. This exchange is sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote cultural awareness and peace building by engaging in collaborative art making practices.
Students from both Lincoln M. Alexander and Tokyo's Tagara Metropolitan high school will use online forums to discuss their ideas about the theme, content and composition of the mural. After arriving at a consensus, the students from Tagara Metropolitan high school will complete the first half of the (5’ x 12’) portable mural and send it to their counterparts to complete the rest.
The completed murals will be displayed at both schools and finally in various Japanese public venues.
