On May 31, Queenston Drive Public School choir and younger students participated in the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Stoney Creek, a key event in Canada’s history. The choir−made up of grade 6, 7 and 8 students−performed songs of the period, including Red, White and Blue
, O Canada
, and The Maple Leaf Forever.
Queenston Drive’s grade 3 and 4 students joined in on the re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek and War of 1812, where Canada stood its ground against the invading United States at Battlefield Park in Stoney Creek. Both groups dressed in period costumes to take part in the event’s parade.
This trip was made possible with generous donations from the Battlefield Museum, City of Hamilton and Queenston Drive’s school council.
