We are seeking an Employee Assistance Program Counsellor (Part Time) in the Human Resources Support Services reporting to the Disability Management Coordinator. The Employee Assistance Program Counsellor will work in partnership with the full time EAP Counsellor and provide individual counselling, support groups and workshops and will assist with the implementation of the Board's health and wellness initiative.
Responsibilities include: maintaining a confidential referral service for employees; liaising with community and private resources to refer employees to the appropriate resource for treatment; providing initial assessment and counselling to employees until treatment commences with resource agency; acting as a resource to the system on conflict resolution, critical incidents and trauma debriefings; consulting supervisors regarding appropriate strategies to encourage employees to utilize the EAP service; planning, developing and conducting various workshops and support groups related to wellness; responding to general inquiries related to resources and maintaining own records, making own appointments and answering all telephone calls to ensure confidentiality.
Work schedule of 17.5 hours per week will be assigned by Supervisor.
• Masters of Social Work, Registered Social Worker and demonstrated knowledge of counselling/therapy modalities.
• Minimum 5 years of social work experience providing counselling to adults on various mental health issues, stress management, family conflict and emotional difficulties.
• Experience working independently to effectively manage a caseload and provide coaching, counselling, conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
• Experience working in a school board and knowledge of existing community and private resources are an asset.
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management and computer skills.
• Psychiatric social work background is an asset.
• Most possess a car and have a valid driver's license
Salary: C4-3 ($69,868 to $83,083) per annum (Under Review)
