The Interval (INT) and Intensive Support Class (ISC) students and staff participated in their second annual Invention Convention this week at the HJA Brown Education Centre. The event kicked off on an exciting note as student inventors made a grand entrance into the building, while staff and family members cheered on.
Students from across 14 Peel District School Board schools presented a variety of hand-made and creative inventions, which ranged from magical Harry Potter potions, balloon cars, a podcast station, a movement course, fidget bracelets, kite messaging system and many others.
The convention focused on Peel board's vision to empower modern learners and followed this year's Education Week theme, We Inspire.
"We had an amazing time this year working on our inventions as students learned about math, science and most of all about teamwork and responsibility."
The Peel board's Interval and Intensive Support Classes provide opportunities to assist students in developing positive self-regulation, social-emotional, and academic skills, within a well-supported learning environment. These programs promote student success through proactive interventions that include positive communication and relationship building approaches to encourage student strengths and reduce challenging behaviour.
