MISSISSAUGA, ONT. (NOV 24TH) - Glenforest STEM - a nationally recognized student-run STEM outreach program - will be hosting its annual symposium to introduce high school students to the vast health science fields through healthcare professionals and researchers. This event is one of many outreach initiatives that the organization has put together to help fellow students find their inspiration and push the frontiers of health science research in Canada. Events such as the Health Science Symposium are incredible opportunities for students to propel themselves into their fields of interests. Speakers, panelists and workshops from across the province will be attending with a common goal in mind: to inspire the next generation of Canadian innovators and front runners of the health sciences.

Students from John Fraser Secondary School, Woodlands Secondary School and Glenforest Secondary School will be attending the event.
Glenforest STEM's Health Science Symposium is a community based event that provides students with the opportunity to listen to inspirational speakers from health science fields, participate in a variety of hands-on workshops and network with post-secondary institutions and notable organization representatives.

BACKGROUND ON GLENFOREST STEM FROM GLENFOREST SECONDARY SCHOOL
Glenforest STEM is team of passionate students interested in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) who are looking to inspire other youth to explore these fields. The school-based organization hosted the Xperience STEM Conference in 2015, and the Canadian Youth STEM Conference in 2017, with over 1500 students in attendance from across Ontario deeming it the largest student-run conferences in Canada. The team has received tremendous support from more than 25 corporations and universities as well as recognition from political figures such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Minister of Science Kirsty Duncan and Minister of Innovation, Science and Development Navdeep Bains.
