Jean Augustine, the first black-Canadian woman elected to the Parliament of Canada, will visit Jean Augustine Secondary School on Feb. 15 to present at an assembly in her honour. This will be her first visit since the school opened in September 2016.
From 8:45 to 9:30 a.m., Jean Augustine will discuss her achievements and role as an activist, connecting to the school's vision of service, advocacy, innovation and leadership. Following her presentation, Augustine will take questions from students and tour classrooms.
Jean Augustine Secondary School is the Peel District School Board's newest secondary school, and the first in the world to be named for Augustine. It is located at 500 Elbern Markell Dr. in Brampton.
