The Loran Award, known as one of Canada's most elite university accolades, examines far more than just academic capabilities; winners are primarily chosen for their dedication to character, public service and leadership.
Humberview Secondary School student Matthew Reynolds has made it past the first series of interviews for the Loran Award from a pool of more than 4,400 other students. As one of 84 finalists selected from across the nation, Reynolds is set to appear at the Loran Scholars Foundation's final selection on Feb. 3 and 4 in Toronto.
Loran Scholars will select up to 32 winners from across the country. If selected, Reynolds will gain access to an annual stipend, a tuition-match waiver, summer internship opportunities both within Canada and abroad, and four years of mentorship with an established Canadian leader.
