Peel board students capture the power of the sun, compete in annual Junior Solar Car Competition

​​​Middle school students from across the Peel District School Board have been hard at work designing and building solar vehicles for the eighth annual Junior Solar Car Competition on May 27. The event is hosted by Port Credit Secondary School and is supported by Port Credit student volunteers.

Competing middle school students have designed and built original solar-powered vehicles, developing their critical thinking, teamwork and creativity skills in the process. On the day of the event the student teams will put their designs to the test as they race the vehicles on a track, competing for the fastest race time.

More than 80 students are expected to compete this year, coming from middle schools in the area. The event is May 27 from 8:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. with races starting at 9:45 a.m. Port Credit Secondary School is located at 70 Mineola Rd. E in Mississauga.
