Plum Tree Park Public School wins the Call2Recycle/Power of 10 Battery Challenge after collecting more than 300 kg of batteries
Staff and students at Plum Tree Park Public School have won the Call2Recycle Power of 10 Battery Challenge after they collected more than 300 kg of used batteries to recycle. Competing against schools across the Peel District School Board, Plum Tree collected the most batteries and earned a prize of $500. The prize was presented at a special award ceremony held on Earth Day, April 22. Many special guests showed up for the awards ceremony including trustee Nokha Dakroub, superintendent Gail Soloman-Henry and city councillor Pat Saito. The students and staff plan to use the prize money to fund more eco-friendly school initiatives starting with a project to build a garden to bring back the bees and feed caterpillars.
