Belfountain Public School received an honourable mention for the Learning for Sustainable Futures Jack Layton Award for Youth Action in Sustainability for organizing Caledon's first Garlic Mustard Festival. The festival was created to build awareness of this invasive plant species in the community. Belfountain was chosen from over 150 school sustainability-related action projects in Canada.
