Macville Public School’s Student Parliament, led by grade 8 student Clark Elliott, have partnered with Plan Canada for their Spread the Net campaign. As part of the Spread the Net Student Challenge, students are raising funds to help end preventable malaria deaths and support the purchase and distribution of bed nets for children and families in Africa. Fundraising activities include a soccer tournament, winter carnival, classroom crafts and jewellery sales.
The nation-wide school challenge will run until Feb. 22. The top fundraising schools in three categories – elementary, secondary, and post-secondary – will win a visit from Canadian television host Rick Mercer, and be featured on his show, The Rick Mercer Report
