Peel board students, staff raise a total of $1.7 million over ten-year period to support UNICEF Canada

​Peel District School Board staff, students and families have raised a total of $1.7 million over the past ten years in support of UNICEF Canada's relief efforts worldwide. Board-wide campaigns have been held to support disaster relief efforts across the globe, including relief efforts in Africa, Haiti, Japan, the Philippines and Syria.

On Nov. 9 at the Regular Meeting of the Board, Bonnie Shepherd, vice-president of development from UNICEF Canada, presented to trustees, and thanked students, staff and families for their contributions.

Last school year, staff and students raised a total of $464,302 in donations from students and staff in support of UNICEF Canada's relief efforts in Nepal, the Philippines and Syria. The most recent initiative raised more than $215,164 in support of children and families affected by the Nepal earthquake as part of a board-wide campaign on May 1, 2015.​
