Stanley Mills Public School staff and students are celebrating Canada day with a school-wide assembly and neighbourhood parade on June 19. Since staff and students aren’t in school on July 1, they celebrate the anniversary of our country before the end of the school year.
The day will start with an assembly featuring songs, poems and a slide show. After the assembly, students will parade through the neighbourhood with flags, banners and signs. Members of the community are invited to join in during the parade.
Grade two students at the school will be visiting the Maple Grove Care Community to give out handmade souvenirs inspired by their recent unit in Social Studies.
Many of the Stanley Mills students will be wearing t-shirts with a design that was chosen during a school-wide t-shirt design contest. The day will finish with entertainment from Canadian musician Michael Mitchell.
