Calderstone Middle School staff and students inspire innovation with action project

Calderstone Middle School staff and students will attend Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF)’s 13th Annual State of Education for Sustainable Development Gala Dinner on May 14. Four students and two teachers from Calderstone will present their action project at the gala, which celebrates the innovative and creative ways that teachers, students and organizations across Canada are promoting educating for a 21st century green economy.  ​

For their action project, students and peer mentors from Calderstone’s Leaders for the Environment, Agriculture…our Future (LEAF) club, with support from LSF’s EcoLeague program, planned and hosted a Healthy Iron Chef competition. Students had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of urban farming and healthy eating by preparing healthy recipes using locally-grown ingredients.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Arcadian Loft, located at 401 Bay St. in Toronto.
