Somerset Drive Public School takes big steps to achieve new fundraising milestones
On May 22, students of Somerset Drive Public School will be support the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes by walking their own way! A day of awareness, raising money and celebrating the students that live with type 1 diabetes (T1D) will be the objective for the day. Local heroes like the Peel Regional Police will be participating in the day-of festivities and supporting the heroic children who are living with T1D at Somerset Drive Public School.
T1D is a non-preventable autoimmune disease that affects more than 300,000 Canadians; that number increases by four to six per cent each year. T1D strikes children, teens and adults suddenly — and at any age — leaving them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for the rest of their lives.
