New and returning Peel District School Board trustees will be sworn in during Lead. Renew. Commit., the inaugural meeting of the board on Dec. 3, 2018, at the HJA Brown Education Centre in Mississauga. Families, students, staff and community partners will join trustees as they sign their oaths of office and elect the new chair and vice-chair of the Peel board.
"The inaugural meeting of the board is an opportunity for us to celebrate and reflect on the past and build connections for the future. We're very excited to welcome eight returning trustees and four new members this term," says Peter Joshua, director of education. "I'm looking forward to collaborating with our trustees as we continue to ensure Peel is a great place to learn, grow and achieve—a place to inspire success, confidence and hope in each student."
Lead. Renew. Commit. will feature student performances by the Tomken Road Middle School choir and the Central Peel Secondary School string ensemble, as well as an art display by Mayfield Secondary School students. The meeting will be followed by a reception with light refreshments made by students from the culinary program at Rick Hansen Secondary School.
The public is invited to attend. Oaths of office will be signed at 6:45 p.m. The inaugural meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees will be required to present government-issued photo identification and sign in, as per the Peel board's meeting access procedures for Regular Meetings of the Board.
