Youth speaker Anthony MacLean to present
Staff, parents and students from Brian W. Fleming and Forest Glen public schools, Glenhaven Middle School and Glenforest Secondary School will attend an anti-bullying presentation on Nov. 1 at Glenforest. Youth speaker Anthony MacLean will speak about anti-bullying and cyberbullying to kick off the schools’ Understanding Each Other initiative.
“We are so grateful to have Anthony here to contribute to our ongoing dialogue on bullying,” says Christine Parr, principal at Brian W. Fleming. “His message to ‘stand up, speak out, and tell someone’ is an important one to deliver to our community of schools and encourage students to follow.”
The Understanding Each Other initiative was created by the Glenforest Family of Schools and provides an opportunity for the school community to learn more about educational issues. This year, the initiative focuses on the use of technology and bullying.
Anthony McLean has appeared on stage performing Shakespeare at the Stratford Festival and on screen as a CBC Television host. He has visited hundreds of schools around the world to speak about bullying.
The presentation will begin in the school auditorium at 6:30 p.m. followed by a multicultural food fair at 7:30 p.m. Glenforest is located at 3575 Fieldgate Dr. in Mississauga.
