Queen Street Public
School choir sends musical message of hope to tsunami victims
The grades 3, 4 and 5 choir
at Queen Street Public School in Brampton have recorded a two song CD
to raise money for the children of Asia and East Africa. All proceeds
from sales of the CD will be added to the Peel District School Board's
Helping Hands campaign total of $477,955 and donated to UNICEF's Indian
Ocean Earthquake Emergency Appeal campaign, which helps children who
have been left homeless or injured by the tsunami.
"The choir wanted to do something
special for the children who have lost so much because of the tsunami,"
says Thomas Hicks, principal at Queen Street. "A song is a great
way to send a message of hope because music is a universal language."
The songs, Wrap Your Arms Around the
Children and Smaller Place, were both written and composed by music
teacher Jeff Wilkinson and have been recorded onto CDs with help from
Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario, Peel District School Board,
Peel Elementary Teachers' Local, Kinwood Audio and Watershed Recording
Studios.
The CD is on sale for $10.
To find out how to purchase a copy of the CD and help send the message
of hope, please call Alison Farbar at 905-890-1010, ext. 2437.
