| Peel implementation of full day learning for four and five year olds The province has now announced further details about the phased implementation of full day learning for four and five year olds. Parents may have questions about which Peel schools are expected to host the program starting in fall, 2010. At this point, we are working with clearly defined ministry criteria to develop a list of proposed schools to implement the full day program in September, 2010. This will be a difficult process in Peel because of the issues of space, the need to ensure fairness and equity in the location of sites, the importance of considering the social risk index and the lack of capital funding in the first year of the program. This list of proposed Peel District School Board schools will be reviewed by the ministry and we expect to receive back from the ministry an approved list of sites at the end of January, 2010. At that point, we will inform the schools, and put in place a communication plan for parents and staff. For more information on the program, visit http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/earlylearning/ |
