Online learning

Learning online is similar to learning in a classroom even though students are outside the classroom setting. Students still read, work independently, and as a member of a group, complete assignments and interact with their teacher.

Do you have the skills and technical knowledge to be successful in an online course?

Students who are successful in an online course are usually:

self-motivated
responsible
well organized

They have good time management skills, can communicate clearly and have established study habits. Their computer skills are above average. If this describes you, you have some of the requirements needed to learn online.

How will students be assessed and evaluated?
Students will be evaluated using a variety of assessments similar to a regular classroom. A number of final exams will be proctored.

NIGHT SCHOOL ONLINE ORIENTATION

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2008

Arrive on time for your orientation. Please check this webpage on Friday, September 12th for your orientation time. Orientation for each course is different.

Remember to bring your $25.00 course fee, cash or cheque (payable to the Peel District School Board)only. Debit and Credit cards are not accepted.

Allow 1 hour for the entire orientation process.

If you know you are going to miss the orientation session because you live outside Peel region, you may pay your course fee prior to September 16th in the Continuing Education office, 100 Elm Drive West, Room 116, Mississauga.Your login and password will be e-mailed to you on September 17th.

Courses only run with sufficient enrollment.

Continuing Ed Online is an educational experience connecting students and teachers through the Internet. Ontario Ministry of Education courses are offered for high school credit for both day school students and adult learners wishing to earn credits in a flexible manner. As part of the Peel District School Board, our qualified teachers are also trained to instruct and communicate with students in an online learning environment.
