Credit summer school is an option for students for a number of reasons. Four typical student profiles are shown below:

  • Michael enters the program with a mark of 40-45 per cent. He attends class regularly and attempts all homework in the course. This student is successful in summer school by being able to concentrate on one course while receiving extra help.

  • Nitin enters the program with a mark of 50-65 per cent. She attends class regularly and attempts all homework in the course. Several questions are answered correctly on a regular basis. Nitin is successful in summer school where concepts learned during the school year are reinforced and reviewed in order to "top-up" previous knowledge.

  • Linda enters the program with a mark of 70 per cent or higher. She attends class daily and wants to improve her mark in order to meet the requirements for the next level or for entrance into a college or university program. She is successful in summer school by putting in extra hours of work outside the classroom in order to improve on previous marks.

  • Sonali enters the program and has not taken the course before. Sonali attends class daily and wants to "fast track" to allow more options in the senior years at high school.
