Here are the types of questions that you may be asked during your literacy assessment:
How many schools did you attend?
When did you go to school?
Did you have frequent absences from school? Was it due to illness or for some other reason?
What language did you speak at home?
Did you like school? What did you like? What didn't you like?
Have you had any further courses or training since you left school? What are they?
Is there a family history of learning difficulties?
How do you learn best?
Do you find it easier to express yourself by speaking or in writing?
What happens when you look at a page of print?
Have you had your vision and/or hearing tested?
Do you like to read?
Do you understand what you read?
Do you have difficulties writing your thoughts on paper?
Do you have difficulties with spelling?
How do you organize, plan or keep track of time?
How many jobs have you had in the past year?
Of all the jobs you have worked at, what type of work did you enjoy the most?
Have you had any problems that affected your work, or, kept you from getting jobs that you would like to have?
Can you attend regularly?
Have you made arrangements for babysitting and transportation to the classes?

We will ask you to do some reading and answer some questions, write a response to a letter and/or answer some questions in math.
