
Registration
To be a student of LBS, there are three basic steps:
Step 1 – Information Session
Step 2 – Orientation
Step 3 – Register
Step 1: Information Session and Assessment
English-speaking adults over age 19 who are currently not enrolled in school, are encouraged to attend an information session. Information sessions are held every month at the following times:
a. 1st Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
b. 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Information sessions take approximately three (3) hours, and are held in:
a. Brampton Adult Education Centre - 7700 Hurontario Street, Suite 300
b. Mississauga Adult Education Centre - 100 Elm Drive, Room 120
NOTE:
- To book an appointment please call (905) 791-6700 press 1, ext. 6401.
- Please bring original documentation of citizenship or immigration, proof of address, and a resume or background information on education and employment history.
- Do not bring children, as there is no daycare facility.
Step 2: Orientation
To enrol in the LBS program, you need to attend four (4) hours of orientation. These sessions are offered on Fridays and Tuesday evenings. They will cover:
- study skills
- learning styles
- goal setting
- introduction to the computer software programs
Step 3: Registration
Depending on space:
a. you can START immediately
or
b. you will be placed on a wait list
or
c. you will be referred to another Literacy and Basic Skills program or service provider
