Peel Learning Foundation
Who we are?
The Peel Learning Foundation is a community-based organization, partially funded by the Peel District School Board, that supports learning achievement for all students throughout their educational journey with the board.
What we do?
Our goals are to remove barriers and create opportunities for students to achieve their full potential.
How we help students?
The support we provide can be as simple as providing funds to purchase a warm winter coat, supporting a school breakfast program, or providing funds for instruments or athletic equipment. This type of support can enrich student's a school experience and help them achieve personal excellence.
Examples of what we fund are:
- student emergency needs (e.g. food or groceries, cafeteria vouchers, school supplies, temporary medical expenses or prescriptions, field trip fees).
- school supplies, such as backpacks, binders, calculators.

Why is the Peel Learning Foundation needed? Aren't school programs funded by the Ministry of Education?
The Peel Learning Foundation supports educational opportunities for projects and initiatives that could not otherwise be offered by the Peel District School Board and that are not funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
What is the status of the Peel Learning Foundation?
The Peel Learning Foundation is currently under development. We are creating the
governance structures, recruiting a board of directors, developing the programs and building the fundraising capacity of the organization. We expect to launch the foundation in the 2018-19 school year.
How does the Peel Learning Foundation work with the Peel District School Board?
As we begin to develop the Peel Learning Foundation, we will work in partnership with the Peel District School Board to identify areas of need and use funds to create the best possible outcome for as many students as possible on their education journey with the Peel board. Over time, the foundation will become an independent organization.
