Toonie Tuesday – October 3, 2017
Give what you can to bring hope to those impacted by international disasters
Over the past few months, the world has experienced multiple devastating natural disasters, resulting in the displacement of children and families, significant injuries and deaths, as well as millions of dollars in damages.
To help those in need, the Peel District School Board has set Oct. 3, 2017 as Toonie Tuesday to send urgent support to respond to the needs of children and families affected by the recent international disasters, including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and the earthquakes in Mexico. Your contribution will help enable Canadian Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these disasters and other related severe weather events.
On Oct. 3, you can choose to send a toonie or a cheque made out to your child's school. All cash and cheques proceeds brought to the school will be donated to the Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund, to provide immediate support to areas with the greatest need. Your donation will support the provision of immediate relief and recovery assistance in the form of food, relief items, shelter and medical aid. Donations also enable the Canadian Red Cross to send specialized aid workers and emergency field hospitals anywhere around the world within 24 to 48 hours of an emergency.
Alternatively, you have the option to make a secure donation online to the Hurricane Harvey Appeal, Hurricane Irma Appeal, the Mexico Earthquake Appeal or the International Disaster Relief Fund. You can access these Canadian Red Cross web portals using the buttons below:
Please note: Online donations must go through the Canadian Red Cross web portals— please do not use the "Make a Donation" option in School Cash Online.
This is a completely voluntary campaign and any contributions are welcome. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt from The Canadian Red Cross. To receive a tax receipt, complete all of the required information on the pledge form copied on the back of this flyer and submit it to the school with your donation. The Canadian Red Cross will send a tax receipt to you directly. Tax receipts for online donations will be made automatically through the Canadian Red Cross web portal.
